CİHANBEYLİ SALT MINING JOINT VENTURE GROUP
Yavşan Saline, which was formerly owned by state monopoly TEKEL, has been purchased for 37.3 million US dollar by Cihanbeyli Salt Mining Joint Venture Group as a result of a bidding arranged by the chairman of the Turkish Privatization Administration.
Being one of the distinguished salt resources of the world, and covering an area of 80 kilometers in length and 48 kilometers in width, Cihanbeyli salt lake meets 73% of Turkey’s salt requirement. The lake contains very high concentrations of salt, as high as 329 grams a liter.
Cihanbeyli Salt Mining Joint Venture Group, an investment group formed by Ümitli Group, is bringing remarkable changes to salt production in Turkey. Under the leadership of Mehmet Ümitli, the chairman of the administrative board and with new technologies and modern equipments, both more fruitful and higher quality salt production is carried out.
By meeting the largest part of both culinay and industrial salt requirements of Turkey, and causing a reduction in the import of salt, Ümitli Group is preventing waste of foreign currency reserves, making a contribution to Turkey’s economy.
Aiming to increase its investments even more by establishing washing and refinery plants, Ümitli Group will continue to make important contributions to the employment level in the region.
